About

Karen Banks is a registered nurse and lifestyle management strategist with a unrelenting passion for teaching healthy living.

Deeply committed to the physical, emotional, spiritual and mental health of people of all ages, races and walks of life, Karen recognized early in her health care management career that healthy living must be lived from the inside out. And with that determination, she set out to form Square Two Health.

Prior to starting Square Two Health, Karen served as a Clinical Nurse Supervisor for a regional pediatric community health organization where she managed all aspects of the admissions process, including performing clinical assessments of patients’ appropriate care needs, coordination and management of care plan development and oversight of care transition.

Prior to her work in community health, Karen served as a Nurse Care Manager with McClendon Center, a mental health organization dedicated to preparing people recovering from mental illness with the tools needed to improve the quality of their lives. In this role, Karen managed the coordination of care for clients and led a team of committed care coordinators. Karen also successfully evaluated family understanding of treatment plans and was a key contributor to the organization’s health promotion initiatives.

Karen is an active health advocate in the communities where she serves and works with local faith-based communities to implement community health education initiatives as well as cooking demonstrations that provide regular evidenced-based education series focused on diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and lifestyle management for better health outcomes.

Karen holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Trinity University in Washington DC and is currently pursuing a doctorate of nurse practice.
